Active transportation describes human-powered methods of transportation, like walking, cycling, and roller blading. It is promoted as part of general health promotion, and in greenhouse gas reduction programs, as cars would be used less if individuals walked or biked to get around more. The building of bike lanes in cities is one way to facilitate active transportation.
