The Battle of "Koyun Adalari"

These were 2 naval battles in the Aegean Sea.

The first took place on 9 February 1695 near Cape Kara Burun, western Turkey, when a Venetian fleet commanded by Zeno was defeated by a Turkish fleet commanded by Mezzo Morto Hüseyin Pasha. Venetian casualties were 142 killed and 300 wounded on the sailing ships, exclusive of the 3 ships lost, and 323 killed and 303 wounded on the oared vessels. All together, less than 2500 casualties.

On 19 February another battle was fought between much the same fleets. San Vittorios absence was one of the differences. This time the Turks had 20 sailing ships as well as galleys. Venetian deaths were 132, and Fama Volante was damaged, along with 2 Turkish sailing ships.

This battle is known as "Battle of Koyun Adaları" in Turkish history.
