[edit] About Actimagine

Established in March 2003 by a team of highly qualified engineers and experienced managers, Actimagine develops and sells under license Mobiclip™, a patented software video codec optimised for mobile platforms. Developed with a completely different algorithm from those used for other video codecs on the market, Mobiclip makes more efficient use of the CPU power, allowing the display of high quality video on any electronic devices, from QVGA to HD resolution.

Actimagine started out with mobile gaming consoles. The video compression technology offered by Actimagine was an optimised response to the battery life and video quality requirements of Nintendo mobile video gaming platforms: Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Advance SP and Nintendo DS. Today, many games that play on Nintendo's platforms contain video sequences played in Mobiclip format.

Perfectly adapted to the key video on mobile phone challenges – high quality video and low battery consumption, Mobiclip has been selected by major studios, such as Sony Pictures Digital, Paramount, Fox and Gaumont Colombia Tristar Films, and by leading handset manufacturers, such as Nokia or Sony Ericsson, to deliver blockbusters on memory cards for mobile phones.

Actimagine’s ambition is to make Mobiclip the de-facto standard for DVD-like quality video on mobile phones and to see its technology rolled out on all mobile phones.

In April 2006, Actimagine raised €3 million in equity financing from US venture capital firm GRP Partners. This first round of institutional fund raising enabled Actimagine to accelerate its business development in the USA and Japan.

Actimagine Corp. is registered in Delaware in the United States. The head office is in its French subsidiary in Paris. The company also has a subsidiary in Tokyo and offices in Singapore and San Diego, California in the United States.

Actimagine is member of: Symbian Platinum program, Electronic Business Group, Forum TV Mobile, Consumer Electronics Association.

Image:Mobiclip.jpg
Thanks to the revolutionary video technologies developed when the company was founded, mobiclip.com enables users to select and manage video content on the web, synchronize it with the mobile handset, and access it from a mobile phone at the click of a button, all in high definition.

mobiclip.com is based on four key concepts:
• availability for everyone: North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, Africa
• all their video content available: video on demand, live TV, videos downloaded from the web, personal videos, webcam videos
• use at any time whether or not network coverage is available
• access from any mobile phone they may own

Once they have set up an account on the mobiclip.com portal or on any other content supplier or operator portal that incorporates the mobiclip.com modules, users are then able to navigate between different worlds, each of which corresponds to a different type of video content. Users can also select and organize their videos, generating their own library of video content in each world they visit. User content is immediately synchronized with their mobile phone and can be accessed at the click of a button, all in high definition.

[edit] Content Worlds:

• Video on demand: films, trailers, video clips, available for rent or sale
• Podcasts: podcasts of broadcast material, sporting events, concerts, etc
• Live TV: television channels that are available live
• Videos downloaded from the web: video content that is available from YouTube or from any other Internet site
• Personal videos: personal videos taken using a video camera, a photographic camera or a mobile phone
• Webcam videos: videos taken using a live webcam

[edit] The User Experience:

The mobiclip.com portal features an intuitive design that can be used by anyone. Content is easy to move and erase. All the functions are readily accessible with just a few clicks on the keypad. Videos are displayed on the mobile phone in DVD-quality, at 25 frames-per-second and in full screen format. Battery life is not compromised.

Mobiclip provides the highest compression rate and DVD-like video quality, while reducing the processor consumption, thus preserving the battery life of the mobile phone. DVD-like quality means full screen video at 24 frames per second, high contrast, no blocking effects, no tearing and a 48 KHz stereo sound. With Mobiclip, users can enjoy more than seven hours of video without recharging the battery.

[edit] Specific Characteristics of Mobiclip:

Mobiclip has been developed with a completely different algorithm from the one used for other video codecs on the market, based on minimal use of the processor resources, allowing battery life to be increased considerably and the cost of the hardware to be reduced.

[edit] Mobiclip Advantages:

No compromises: the extended battery life means that users no longer have to choose between their phone multimedia capabilities and phone calls. They can enjoy several hours of DVD-like quality video and continue to make or receive calls.

Simple to use: if the storage medium is a memory card, users just have to insert the card in the phone and click on an icon to start the video.

[edit] Examples of Applications:

Video content can be pre-recorded on a memory card or on a SIM card or downloaded or streamed via a telecom network. For example, the full version of a blockbuster can be stored on a 128 MB memory card. For mobile phones equipped with a TV output, like the Nokia N95, users are even able to enjoy movies on a television screen, via their mobile phone, without affecting the picture quality. The phone therefore becomes a true video iPod.

Mobiclip is available for Symbian S60 and UIQ, Windows Mobile, Brew, Palm and Linux.
