The municipality of AcquaSanta Terme contains many small communities such as; Matera é Vallecchia, and Pozza. These communities were once home to poor peasants with large families. The population of AcquaSanta Terme decreased tremdously during the 1950s and 1960s, when many moved to the city during Italy's modernization period (1960-1968). But, a large portion of settlers relocated to places such as; France, Switzerland, the United States, and most of all Canada.
The area of AcquaSanta Terme is known for it's mineral-rich thermal baths that attract many tourists from all over Le Marche. Over last decade or so, the small rural municipality has become a hot spot for adventurous tourists from Germany and other parts of Italy who have convereted the old houses of the peasants, into vacation homes (cottages). The area of AcquaSanta is relatively economic for purchasing real estate.
The name "AcquaSanta", means "Holy Water" in Italian. This is as a result of thermal baths.
