[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Pikorio.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Pikorio.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Project FMF (talk) 14:26, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Life67.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Life67.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr If you've written a quality article... 18:36, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question on an old edit / link

Acidburn24m, When you made the following formatting edit (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Joseph_Murphy_%28author%29&diff=next&oldid=173904480) was there an article existing for "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind"? I would have expected one but WP shows it as not existing. Low Sea (talk) 20:48, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

I believe there wasn't. Acidburn24m (talk) 03:40, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Zbeng15.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Zbeng15.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 03:29, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Key songs of the adult alternative scene

I have nominated Key songs of the adult alternative scene, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Key songs of the adult alternative scene. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Copslogo.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Copslogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

This is an automated notice by FairuseBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. --03:50, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Uri-On

Hello Barak, nice to make the connection with your English user page. I just received your note on the Hebrew user page regarding Uri-On, and will gladly pitch in. I've first uploaded a larger version of the cover image because the enlargement to 250 pixels produced a blurry result. There are minor issues in the article that may be considered. 1} Jonathan Duitch and Yossi Halperin were not writers, rather business partners who funded the publication. They are not officially credited as creators and the reference to such in some press was mistaken, as the comic book credits themselves attest. 2) Perhaps the controversy over Uri-On, as noted in my English biography, is also noteworthy in the article. 3) A few minor adjustments to plot and powers might also be helpful. I will embark to do these now in the English page, and add source citations. Perhaps you might like to scrutinize them and translate to the Hebrew page at your convenience (my system is having a horrible time navigating the Hebrew editing). On an aside, I've seen your work before in the English Wikipedia and enjoy your regard for chronicling information. Much gratitude again for the nice work on these pages. MichaelNetzer (talk) 01:07, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

OK. I've went through and added references and also a few relevant items. Seemed that noting Uri Orbach is a religious reporter may be unnecessary because secular reporters aren't noted for being secular, and it might give undue weight to a marginal issue which doesn't seem to be prominent in his reporting. It's in your hands now and let me know if you need help in translations for the Hebrew page. MichaelNetzer (talk) 05:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Hei Michael! thanks for helping improve the English version of the article. I'll try translating it sometime tommorow. I really appriciate your work on the Uri-On comics... are there any plans of ever bringing him back? do you have any plans to upload all or some of the Uri-On comics to the web? One last thing - out of curiosity, what other articles of mine did you see before on the English Wikipedia? Acidburn24m (talk) 06:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Barak! The thing about Uri-On is that I didn't really have time for the story and art, which is what the comic book is about. In general I'd say that I wished I had it to do over again now. I was relatively new in Israel, still very American, and struggling with the culture and language. But when the opportunity arose to do the project, I jumped on it enthusiastically. It turned out to be a one man show, including promotion, printing, mechanical color separations at the printer, setting up distribution and even having to be involved with selling ads because my partners were even less versed in Hebrew. That left me very little time to write and draw, so it was all quite rushed. And it was my first attempt at doing a mainstream comic book in a culture I wasn't yet familiar enough with. All this, along with the cold shoulder it received from some of the local "branja", has put a damper on reviving him.
But things are different now and I've had ideas and plans to bring him into the 21st century, but alas, I've also become less personally pre-disposed to comics projects in recent years, looking to channel energies into wider directions. But who knows, maybe such a situation will make itself possible someday. The character holds a notable place in Israeli culture and if there's enough of a call for his return from the Israeli comics scene, and the needed investor... anything can happen. Scanning and uploading to the web would be a good move but again, very little time for that these days.
I first ran into your editing last year when I noticed the Uri Fink page and then Zbeng! You can imagine I'm a little curious about Israeli contributions so I snooped around and noticed you're involved in a lot of articles relating to Israel. I liked the subjects and input you were putting in. But I didn't make the connection to the Hebrew Barak user until yesterday. Small world and getting smaller. Thanks much for the nice words on Uri-On. MichaelNetzer (talk) 07:29, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi again.. about Uri-On.. I was aware of the facts why it didn't succeed back then.. even so.. I think that these days my generation whom grew up on it (and also those whom didn't) would appreciate Uri-On for the nostalgic value of it and maybe if it would be available on the internet it might help spark a new interest in Uri-On and get new people interested in it and maybe even new investors. Israel is a tough market for comics.. and Israelis in general are very criticizing people and usually refrain from showing support (לפרגן) until a Israeli artist proves success in sales and proves success abroad. nonetheless, since Uri-On came out there has been a big revival in the Israeli comics scene - I believe that Uri Fink has been the main cause for sparking the hunger for comics amongst the Israeli youth in the 1990s and the 2000s. in the last decade there have been a lot of new comics artists whom joined the Israeli comics scene and there are also a lot of comics fairs each year in Tel Aviv which get a lot of comics fans rushing in to meet their favorite comics artists and to get their hands on the new Israeli comics available at the booths.

Do you feel that nowadays, after living in Israel for over two decades you would be better at attempting to create Israeli comics which would appeal to the Israeli youth? (If not, maybe you should consider working with a good Israeli writer)

About Wikipedia... it has been a hobby of mine in the latest years.. I enjoy learning through the project about different subjects I am interested in.. sometimes I start writing articles about subjects I am not very familiar with and the stubs attract people whom have knowledge in those subjects whom are able to eventually contribute a lot to those stubs. I also enjoy the fact that whatever articles I write here, are in a way eternalized and would be watched by a massive amount of people and used as a reference forever (even if it might get heavy editing through the years). it is also a nice way for me to continue using the Hebrew language abroad.
