[edit] History

OpenGoo was born as a fork from an open source project manager called activeCollab, developed by Ilija Studen, that due to the product's success he continued developing the software on his own under a commercial license. At that point two new open source projects where born with two different approaches. One was ProjectPier, which continues development of activeCollab 0.7 as a project manager. The other one was OpenGoo, that aimed to produce a complete office suite, including activeCollab as the project manager but with many other features in mind.

OpenGoo started as a degree project for the faculty of Engineering at the University of the Republic, Uruguay. Although being developed by students from that university the project is hosted at Sourceforge.net, so it is open for anyone to join and contribute.
