Talk:Achintyakumar Sengupta
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I discovered this page by accident, and was astonished to find Achintyakumar Sengupta described as a Bangladeshi author. As the brief life sketch makes clear, Sengupta was born in undivided India 44 years before its partition. He moved to Calcutta at a young age, and was closely associated with the cultural life of that city for decades. He died less than 5 years after the creation of Bangladesh, holding an Indian passport (to the best of my knowledge). To describe him as Bangladeshi does not seem warranted by any definition of nationality.
The phrase 'Bengali author' is neutral and accurate - it refers to language and not nationality.

- He was never a Bangladeshi national. Removed the Bangladesh-related categories.GDibyendu (talk) 04:08, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
I have changed the spelling from Kollol to Kallol. Although transliteration is always a tricky issue, this particular change made it possible to provide a link to the existing article Kallol.
