[edit] Width

A narrowest width of 4cm is given. That seems rather high. A quick survey of the (IRL) people around put a more reasonable average at somewhere between 2cm and 2.5cm. Was the width across the back of the ankle intended, or from the back of the heel to the bit facing the front of the foot (which can't be measured without some knifework)? If the latter, perhaps this should be made a bit more clear. --Fvw 01:00, May 31, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Redirect?

Why does Achilles' Heel redirect here instead of to Achilles' heel, which would seem to make more sense since the only difference between the two is the capitalisation of one letter? Ben davison 18:22, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Severing the tendon

What exactly does severing the Achilles tendon do? I think that should be explained.

Can anyone explain the 3 types of treatment (which were suggested but not explained) for a ruptured tendon?--Scot.hale@gmail.com 01:14, 16 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Title

Um, we were taught that the correct medical term was tendocalcaneous - this might be pedantic, but shouldnt the article be named after the medical rather than the common name (Achilles tendon)? Or at least more emphasis given to the more scientific term...

And I would guess tendocalcaneous rupture would prevent plantarflexion of the foot (movement of the tow down), since soleus and gastrocnemius are no longer connected to the foot. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 91.108.19.121 (talk) 10:29, August 20, 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stretching the Achilles Tendon

A product recommended for stretching the achilles tendon is the Stretch EZ. It was developed for athletes to help stretch their legs, hips, and lower back. Also, it has been proven to increase flexibility and prevent injury. This product has been endorsed by Physical Therapists who have used Stretch EZ to treat sports related injuries and conditions such as plantar fasciitis with positive results. There are many product reviews such as the one on :http://www.killerlifestyle.com/wp02/2007/10/29/product-review-stretch-ez/ (MarkH45 (talk) 00:46, 31 May 2008 (UTC))
