Dr. Achyuthan A is a civil engineer who specialises in hydraulics, fluid mechanics and environmental issues. He was born in the Trichur district of Kerala state, India. He now lives in Kozhikkode.
He served on the commission for enquiring into the effects of Endosulfan spraying in Kasaragod district, Kerala. He has also enquired about the effects of the Coca Cola plant in Plachimada, Kerala.
He is one of the founders of Vasthuvidyapratisthanam, a society to promote vastu and traditional architecture in Kerala. He was also one of the founders of Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP).
He worked as a professor in various government engineering colleges as well as in Calicut University. He was the editor of Ore Oru Bhoomi, a magazine concentrating on environmental issues of Kerala published by the Society for the Environmental Protection, Kerala (SPEK).
At present he is involved with various environmental protection movements in Kerala, especially related with water. He is the author of a handful of Malayalam and English books.
