Achanta Vemavaram

Achanta Vemavaram is a village in Achanta Mandalam, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The village has fertile paddy fields, sugar cane and coconut plantations. There is a government hospital and a high school in the village as well. Also in the village are Mahila mandali, a Shiva Someswara Swami temple, Kesava Swami [Vishnu] Temple, a Saibaba temple, a Durga temple, and several other temples. Durga Temple and Saibaba Temples are very old, recently Durga Temple is re-constructed.

This is an Agrahaaram donated to a Veda Pandita by Shri Ana Vemareddy, who ruled this area, hence the name of the village became Vemavaram (Vema Varam).

60% of the people in this village are belongs to Karnabhaktas (weavers community) living below poverty line. And other people depends on agriculture.
