RfC of Mario Roering and Peter Lee

Hi! I read your comments on the RfC for Mario Roering and Peter Lee. I have previously considered submitting a mediation request, but both of these users ignored my request that they agree to mediation, and I was under the impression that mediation could only procede with the consent of the users involved. Is it totally without precedent for a RfC to include two users? It seems to me that we could have filed separate RfC's, but they would be essentially duplicates of each other. I also think that it is difficult to consider the behaviour of each user separately from that of the other. Thanks, JeremyA (talk) 04:18, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

I was going to leave almost exactly the same message. Also note that both users have explicitly rejected offers of informal mediation from both myself and JeremyA and have rejected the Arbitrators authority to intervene. Process is less important than outcome remember, and most of the RfC rules are to prevent frivolous filings. This is certainly not one of those, as you will be aware from reading the evidence. Nevertheless, if you insist that the only useful way to proceed is with separate but essentially duplicative RfCs, we shall so file. -Splash 04:27, 26 August 2005 (UTC)
Thank you. Whilst I generally don't have all that much time for WP:IAR (it seems to be used in too cavalier a way for the most part), perhaps this once it is useful. Particularly since we seem to have imported a conflict from nl: and the admins there have been invited to comment here. I'm sure our processes are hair-raising enough without having to go through them twice! As you say, if either user simply refuses to acknowledge the RfC on these grounds, we will go to Arbitration. Part of the reason we didn't go direct to RfAr is because we are third-parties bringing the case and imagine the Arbitrators would want to see good evidence that we weren't just interfering but had tried to help. -Splash 16:46, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome. Yes - the formatting clearly needs practice, but looking at the source of other articles helps. I don't know right now what I have especially to add, though have put in a tiny piece on a gallery in Rotterdam that I know well as practice (Rotterdam being badly represented in that list). Must find an image for that.

Being an ex-magazine sub-editor (copy-checker in USan) and non-specialist, was contemplating joining up for the 'clean-up' detail some time when I am less busy...

A noble project and I'd like to find a way to help. Oh - and I got the four tilde thing just before you told me, thanks.

Thanks for the welcome

Hey, Ryan, thanks for the warm welcome you gave me. The links that you provided were definitely useful, and I'm still reading through them now.

On a side note, do you know of any groups that specialize in cleaning up pages, or any page that has a list of pages that need to be cleaned? I feel this is the best way to learn how Wikipedia works.

Thanks

Parley

Well, I was trying to figure out a way to put a talk page link on my signature that would be unique to me- so I hauled out a thesaurus, looked under talk, and then negotiate, and I found "parley". I haven't seen anyone else use it, so I'm pretty happy with it ;).--Scimitar parley 14:04, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Thank you

I can't recall ever receiving a more gracious note than the one you just left on my talk page. There are times that I find myself wondering why the heck I keep coming to this site...and it's kindness like that which helps me remember. Thank you so much. - Lucky 6.9 14:17, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Voting policy

I was just looking at your voting policy and if you abided by it, you wouldn't vote support for me OR Essjay! Redwolf24 (talk) 19:50, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Haha, I may close full days of VfD now but to tell you the truth, I had ~60 Wikipedia namespace edits when I was nominated. :O Redwolf24 (talk) 20:02, 26 August 2005 (UTC)

Esperanza

Hello, I'm trying to show some people off my friends list a new society, somewhat similar to WP:KC, Esperanza. Its still in its early stages but nonetheless I'd appreciate it were you to join. Redwolf24 (talk) 06:25, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Your awards being cleaned up

Well, you being the earner of so many awards, you deserve to have a tidy awards section. But if you don't want one, that's totally fine with me. —MESSEDROCKER (talk) 06:26, August 29, 2005 (UTC)

Eminence, I would be honored! Do we make beer like German monks or bourbon candy like Trappists? Psy Guy 17:22, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

By the way, I like the idea of the sacraments, but does Holy Orders mean that I have to be an admin to become a priest? Psy Guy 17:24, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

Barnstar

Nothing's harder to say than sorry (with the exception of the names of a few towns in wales), and yet it so often makes life on the wikipedia so much easier. I hereby award you this barnstar for having the guts to say sorry. Happy editing! --fvw* 12:41, August 30, 2005 (UTC)

Many Thanks for your Kind Welcome

Hello Ryan,
its very nice of you to welcome me, so my talk page is no longer blank. Most of my contributions here are minor, so I do not attract much attention, I think. I am in Wikipedia for some months, but nearly only in the German part of it. My English is not so bad I hope but there are many people who are better, so I concentrate on that where I'm better. Hopefully I didn't make too much mistakes here. Thanks a lot, Gerhard aka Perrak 16:03:59, 2005-08-30 (UTC)
