Back to normal now
Just want to let you know that I'm back from my vacation now, and my stress level is now back to 1 so I can start contributing to Wikipedia again. :) — Wackymacs 19:30, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
hey
hey, thanks for the welcome message, yeah, i was expecting HTML, but i think i can get a hang of it soon, i expect to become a big editor on here, love the idea, love the mission of wiki.

Hey, thanks a lot
I've always loved Wikipedia. It's great to have a formal welcome... I'm proud to be here!
Alphalife
Nice welcome, thank you!
I did some contributions to Wikipedia (DE) before, so it's not too intimidating for me. As you can imagine now, I'm not a native English speaker. So it might be helpful if any native speaker smoothes out any awkward wording in my articles! - -GJG 06:37, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
What now?
So what is there fun to do around here besides makeing and updateing articles? I love knowledge! this is so exciting! I'm being totally serious! I can surf wikipedia for hours....

Hey Acetic Acid
Hey Acetic Acid. who are you? and how'd u discover my new account?
Thanks
Thank you for your welcome note, Ryan, and your tips. I am very grateful. Some friends have guided me to enter here. I have just uploaded the image of a painting which I own: Image:StjosemariaMagpakabanal sa gawainBe a saint thru work.jpg
I hope there won't be any problems with how I did it. My friend Walter Ching said that there were some problems the last time he uploaded some pictures. Kindly see if what I did is ok. Salamat po. (thank you in filipino) Cabanes 07:49, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

Just a friendly "Hi!" and "Thank you!"
Hello, Acetic Acid/Ryan, and thank you for your welcoming message on my talk page. The resource links you shared are useful.
Thanks to a quick peek at your user page, I got a Babel encoding of my own on my fledgling user page.
Be well, and thanks again.

Hello, Ryan
Thanks for the welcome, but I have some familiarity with wikipedia already :-) Good to see people trying to be helpful though.
Have a nice day yourself,

Okay, I registered one. It's "Essjay Wiki". -- Essjay · Talk 11:09, August 5, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome
Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been contributing to wikipedia before I got an account, so I'm already familiar with how things work. Thanks for trying to be helpful, anyway. Tetracube 15:06, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
My wikistress
Yeah, i know. :( I think its starting to go down now though :) I'm going to make a new wikistress image past 4 if it goes up any higher, lol. --Phroziac (talk) 16:21, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
RFA
Hi, Ryan,
You may vote/comment on RFA however you like. And I may think that your reasons are silly, if I like. I don't see a problem in that.
Thanks. :) kmccoy (talk) 18:40, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
- What point do you think I'm trying to prove by voting against you? And why do you hope that is not why I'm voting the way I am?
- I don't feel the need to prove you wrong, but thanks anyway. :) kmccoy (talk) 03:19, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

- "Because it's unprofessional"? heh. I don't know about you, but Wikipedia is a hobby, not a profession. :) Anyway, don't worry so much. Learn to separate 'disagreement' from 'dislike'. Just because I disagree with something you say on RFA doesn't mean I dislike you. Don't assume things are personal. :) kmccoy (talk) 17:12, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
thank you!
Ryan : thanks for the note. I appreciate your welcome, and the inclusionist banner on your page got me reading about different wikiphilosophies. thanks a lot Ahutson 19:47, 5 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome
As you can see, I'm just starting out, doing minor edits here & there. At this point, I just keep hitting "Random article" to see what's already here. I'll be studying the basic starter pages you have recommended. -- Cabreet 23:47, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
Hello
Dear Acetic Acid,
You are crazy.
Keep up the good work.

admin vote
Thanks for reconsidering your vote. I actually thought it was common to ask to be nominated, but perhaps that's not the case. Regardless, thanks for the support! Cheers. Kaldari 05:58, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
Hi Ryan
I'm spanish, my name is Emilio. I help at es.wikipedia, but sometimes I add some interwikis. My level of english is 2 :)) . Thanks for the welcome.

Re: Pokemon VFDs
I was putting the personality-less gym leaders on VFD, yes, the ones who are currently only two sentences of description and lists of Pokemon teams. I was also planning on expanding Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire to cover the leaders of Team Aqua and Team Magma. You'll note that I haven't put Drake (Orange Islands) or Rudy (Pokémon) or Professor Birch on VFD; those are recurring characters with personalities. On the other hand, Brawly (Pokémon) is a one-off opponent with no personality, role in the story, or backstory.
PAC is doing good work covering the characters who are actually characters, and not simply non-notable obstacles in a long-running game series. The stuff I'm redirecting or VFDing, however, is not the product of PAC's hard work, but instead GameFAQs-esque lists of names and numbers. - A Man In Black (Talk | Contribs) 11:47, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not throwing up VFDs willy-nilly here. I've got a page open to Serebii, a pair of Google windows open, and a window open editing R&S right now. I'm a fan of the series, but one-off Pokemon characters aren't notable, Pokemon project or otherwise. Brawly, for example, appears once in R/S/E and once in episode 296 of AG (which hasn't even been translated into English yet, as far as I can tell). There's nothing to add to this article other than a summary of the events of episode 296. Bugsy, at least, has been in the already-localized episodes of AG, but, again, only once.
- Chuck (Pokémon), in retrospect, I'm going to delist. Looks like he's a recurring character in the manga.
- It's not that I hate Pokemon or anything. Wouldn't most of these one-off characters be better served with a List of minor Gym Trainers in Pokémon, anyway? - A Man In Black (Talk | Contribs) 12:01, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
- If you want to make a draft for that, I'll start delisting these from VFD. Updating Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire can wait. - A Man In Black (Talk | Contribs) 12:07, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
Looks like this stirred up some strong feelings from WP:PAC. You might want to check out Talk:List of Johto Gym Leaders. - A Man In Black (Talk | Contribs) 15:10, 6 August 2005 (UTC)

Hey, and thanks for the welcome. --Jinnentonik 18:08, 6 August 2005 (UTC)
thanks & . . .
hi ryan,
don't know if your greeting was automated, or if you actually read what i was struggling to post.
yes, wikipedia syntax does appear to be a tad idiosyncratic, and if you read my comment, you will have noticed that i was annoyed with the subs-tandard scholarship of an entry.
actually, i am a big fan of and a long-time user of wikipedia. although i was tempted to redact an egregious footnote, i chose instead to experiment with the talk forum for my 1st toe in the shallow end of wikipedia's pool.
despite the acerbic tone in the remarks i posted, in reality i am a gentle & sensitive guy. really.
however, i've yet to acquire the restraint to pull my punches when confronted with overly ambitious and/or pretentious pedantry. in my book, it rates no mercy.
best,

Thank you for welcoming me
Hi Ryan and thank you for welcoming me. Truth be told, I am not new to Wikipedia although my account here is. I am actually Jose Ramos, here is my old account user page. I checked the Missing Wikipedians page and it is listed there. I gave up with that account and decided to take a break. Now I am back I have created a brand new account as a bit of a fresh start for myself. I'll put a notice on the Missing Wikipedians page soon to inform people I'm back although I'd rather some Wikipedians didn't find out this new account. Many thanks again for the welcome. Louis23rd
