Am I Allowed Contents And Sections Like On Wikipedia Articles (Know What I Mean?)

Do you mean a "contents" index at the top of an article? Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 20:50, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

yes! ACBest 20:52, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Help!

A Couple Of Questions...

Am I Allowed Contents And Sections Like On Wikipedia Articles (Know What I Mean?)

How do you get some of your name colored? (Like AC then Best in gold)

The way to get your name colored would be to go to your preferences, tick the "Raw signature" box, and in the "Signature box" enter:
AC<font color="gold">Best</font>

Which will produce:

ACBest
How do you mean when you say "Contents" and "Sections"? Cheers, Yuser31415 (Editor review two!) 20:56, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

well you know like the ===SECTION TITLE=== code - that, am i allowed to use it? ACBest 20:58, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

This Article Is Now Spoken!

Please Comment On The Spoken Version Below :) ACBest 16:02, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Why?

Why is my section 'Stuff About Me' All Cramped Up, If You See What I Mean?

Sometimes when you have images and then start another second below them, the section will start to the side of the images, rather than right below. You can use the template to be sure that whatever comes after the images starts below them. -- Natalya 16:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
You are most welcome, and thanks for the barnstar! -- Natalya 17:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Protect

Am I Allowed To Protect My User Page, As I Dont Like Other Pepole Editing It, Unless they Are Helping Me? ACBest 06:43, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Userpages are generally protected upon any good-faith request by their respective users -- I've gone ahead and protected your userpage, if you'd like me to look into protecting any sub-pages, feel free to let me know, or see WP:RFPP. Hope that helps! Luna Santin 07:49, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

isnt there supposed to be some kind of message sayiing 'protected'? ACBest 07:53, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

On articles, yes; if you like, you're more than welcome to add sprotect to the top of your userpage. You can also use sprotect2, which is a little less intrusive (just a lock icon in the corner). Either way, it's your option -- many users with protected pages choose to omit the template. You're still able to edit the page, and any established account will be able to do the same; the template's only there for notification when needed. If that makes sense. Luna Santin 08:00, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

I Need My Sandbox Protecting, Thanks! ACBestMy Contributions 14:25, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

If it is protected you can't edit it, so it won't be a very useful sandbox. Please do not post helpme for protection requests, as above visit WP:RFPP --pgk 14:28, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Sandbox

Am I Allowed To Create A User Subpage That I Cna Use As A Sandbox? ACBestMy Contributions 14:11, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Yes. Just go to a page like User:ACBest/Sandbox and create it. --pgk 14:19, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Yay! Thanks! ACBestMy Contributions 14:20, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

GAC

You nominated Cocker Spaniel for GAC and it's only a few sentences long and looks like a disambiguation page for American Cocker Spaniel and English Cocker Spaniel. I'm sure you meant to nominate one of those, so you should fix it to prevent it from being failed. --Nehrams2020 20:44, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Disambig Notice

Is The Disambiguation notice alright now, as it isnt proper - i have just typed it on

You can do whatever you want with your user page, but I would have put something of that sort on your User page :) GofG ||| Contribs 16:17, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

What Links Here?

Why Are A Lot Of Articles About The Simpsons On The What Links Here? Page On User:ACBest ACBestMy Contributions 20:16, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

It's because your signature is on Template:The Simpsons to-do. They all use that template and, therefore, have that link to your user page. Metros232 20:22, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! I Will Remove My Signature From there! ACBestMy Contributions 20:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Nope, i done that, and they are still there ACBestMy Contributions 20:26, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Hi there, on yours signature how you have ACBest Mycontributions, I would jsut like to tell you that you may wish to move the contribs bit up slightly so it displays ACBest Mycontributions or have it on the bottom bit so it displays ACBest Mycontributions but this is optional I just though you may prefer that or to shorten it down so it jsut says contribs or contributions but this is just advice, its your signature and its totally optional.Tellyaddict 12:32, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

To Do

Can i create a page to put to do lists on priority undefined to 9, for stuff i have to do on wikipedia and suff i have to do in real life? ACBestMy Contributions 17:38, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

The to do lists are mostly for WikiProjects and that sort of thing, for everyone on Wikipedia to contribute to. To keep your own to do list, you could use your userpage (User:ACBest) or a user subpage such as User:ACBest/To do; however, you should only put Wikipedia-related things there (non-Wikipedia-related things are discouraged here). Hope that helps! --ais523 17:45, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

For future reference

For future reference, and in response to Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion/2007 March 3#Image:Softcoated Wheaten Terrier Clio.JPG, "If you don't want your [contributions including images] to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit [them]." --Iamunknown 20:21, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Clio picture

Thanks for your understanding. I've changed the file page to read: photo taken by ACBest. Edited by Pharaoh Hound. If there's any other problems please feel free to contact me. Also, thank you for letting me upload the other cropped image (your version) to the commons. If I had known about your file when I made my crop I would have simply asked to upload yours and not make mine since they're so similar (my bad, oops). --Pharaoh Hound (talk) 13:39, 5 March 2007 (UTC)

BackgounD?

Is it possible to put a background on my userpage? thanks! ACBestMy Contributions 16:51, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

You could try adding <div style="background-color: #e0e0ff; margin: 0px; padding: 3px;"> at the top of the page, and </div> at the bottom - that would just about do it. Other than that, I doubt you can - besides it might muck up the other skins or something. --h2g2bob 17:17, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Article On User:ACBest/Sandbox 2

Would the article on my 2nd sandbox (link above) be big enough for creating yet? To The Helper : Feel free to touch up on my article, and feel free to replace the stub with a more fitting one Thanks ACBestMy Contributions 06:44, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

No. The article needs an external link. However, be sure that the article falls under WP:CORP. Real96 06:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, I actually own Uti, so I know there are no links for it yet, however there are logos ACBestMy Contributions 06:51, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Since the company hasn't opened yet, the article isn't ready for mainspace yet. And, if its for advertising the company, the company isn't ready for mainspace. Real96 07:04, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Clock and Category

helpme

2 things.

First, is it me, or is the wikipedia server time a hour slow, as the clocks changed 1 hr forward?

secondly, can i create or Thanks, and happy april fools day (no this isnt a joke!) ACBestMy Contributions 11:26, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

 1. The Wikipedia servers run on UTC, which is the same as the UK wintertime time zone. During summertime in the UK, the UK clocks go an hour forwards but Wikipedia remains in the original time zone. (The UTC timezone is used by Wikipedia to show times for people anywhere in the world; in the USA, where the time can be somewhat different from UK time, Wikipedia still displays times in UTC.)
 2. Categories generally aren't used for individual users. Special:Prefixindex/User talk:ACBest should find all your talkpages (likewise, Special:Prefixindex/User:ACBest should find all your userpages), as long as you've named them in the conventional way with User:ACBest at the start.
Hope that helps! --ais523 11:40, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

The commons to wikipedia

How do i import a picture from the commons to wikipedia, like Image:91118 'Bradford Film Festival' at Peterborough.JPG has been? Many thanks ACBestMy Contributions 17:48, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

You can just link an image as if you would in Wikipedia - e.g , but you can change the sieze etc but you can just link them from commons. That should help - Tellyaddict 17:59, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

sound like im stupid, but how do you link from the commons? thanks ACBestMy Contributions 18:02, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

I just told you above, please do not just place helpme for the sake of it, it alerts IRC users and categorises you into Category:Wikipedians looking for help and causes confusion, please leave a note on my talk page with any more problems,Tellyaddict 18:07, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Edit Summary usage

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. Tellyaddict 11:42, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Copyright tag

Hi! I want to upload a scan from a magazine, and dont know what licence to use. It is a scan with a picture and a comment to go with it. It says who took the picture. What would the licence be? Many Thanks ACBestMy Contributions 06:47, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

You don't want to upload that picture. It's copyrighted, and doesn't fall under fair use. {Slash-|-Talk} 07:08, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Oh :( OK, Thanks anyway! ACBestMy Contributions 07:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Image policy

Oh, and you should read up on Wikipedia:Images. Wikipedians don't get to upload pictures unless they're notable, like User:Adrian. I'll let yours pass for now. {Slash-|-Talk} 07:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

Wait, what? Yes Wikipedians do get to upload images of themselves, that's why we have the Wikipedia:Facebook. What policy are you referring to when you say that? --Iamunknown 00:54, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:HPIM0038.JPG)

Thanks for uploading Image:HPIM0038.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Iamunknown 00:58, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I would just like to inform you that User:ACBest/Sandbox 2 has been nominated for deletion at Miscellany for deletion as it seems to be an irrelevant duplicate of User:ACBest/Sandbox and the one nominated for deletion seems to contain irrelevant info. You are free to voice your opinion their but please do not remove the md1 tag on the nominated page. Thank you. TellyaddictTalk 16:58, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey

Hey there - just happened to notice in passing that it says here on your talk page "please leave all messages for me here, not at User talk:ACBest/Main". However your sig currently links to User talk:ACBest/Main which could make people accidentally post there. I don't know whether that's intentional for some reason, but I thought I'd point it out in case it wasn't! Regards. Will (aka Wimt) 09:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:20-04-07 1534.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:20-04-07 1534.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:05, 8 May 2007 (UTC)
