The St Francis Xavier College shared IP address was blocked after persistant vandalism to Wikipedia's pages. This was discovered by one of its students (User:Beno1000) who is a Wikipedian when he attempted to edit an article using his account from a school/college workstation. He then checked the IP's talk page and discovered that it had been persistantly vandalising Wikipedia. He left a message on his talk page regarding the incidents, however could not contact any administrators who had been involved with the vandalism or leave a message on the IP's talk page since the IP address had been blocked. He then reported it to the school librarian and printed off the IP's talk page and several edit comparisons of articles which had been vandalised and was told that she would report it to the network administrator.

At home he left notes on the IP's talk page about the vandalism, and offered to liase between Wikipedia and the college, and to help with the investigation. He then got into contact with User:Petros471, and began to discuss how to deal with the problem.

Later, the contribution summary of the IP address was investigated and several names were found in the edits. These are listed below.

Whilst looking through the histories of the vandalised articles, I noted that some names had been included in the vandalism, and I will be handing these names into the college administration.

  • Jack Banks [1] Is subject to a homophobic attack here.
  • Probable nickname Griffo is used here. [2]
  • Surname Gardner is used here. [3]
  • Name Tom Griffin is used here: [4]
  • Full name Colin Gardner is used here: [5] Probably the same person using the name "Gardner" previously.
  • Name Michael Greene is used here: [6]
  • The names Noel Gallagher, Chris Martin, and the nickname Bono are used here, although the nickname Bono may refer to the U2 band member. [7]
Noel Gallagher is the lead singer of Oasis (band) and Chris Martin is the lead singer of Coldplay.

Fair enough for you to have noted that, but I recognise the name Noel Gallagher as possibly being the name of a student as well. I will have to confirm this first, though. Beno1000 21:28, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
  • Walter Matthaeu and Robert Shaw are mentioned here, Walter Matthaeu does not return any search results so could be a vandal, however Robert Shaw has a redirect page here. Therefore I will see if there is anyone at the college by these names and report back whether there are or not. [8]

  • Here the Peter Bell disambiguation page is vandalised and it seems that the article is edited to include someone from the college/school who goes by the same name. [9]
