Was Heschel a Orthodox Jew in observance like Saul Lieberman? --Yodamace1 18:35, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Rewording needed

Can someone reword this sentence, to make it simpler and perhaps even gramatically/factually correct? I don't know anything about the subject, and was just reading the article, and found the sentence very awkward, especially the latter part:

"His books contain civil but pointed rejoinders towards those in Reform Judaism who no longer held that Jewish law was normative, and also towards those in Orthodox Judaism, who Heschel held valued legalism over the spirit of the law."

Thanks!Starwarp2k2 15:19, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This article was helpful to me.

I didn't see a problem with the sentence mentioned because it parsed quite logically (in my opinion).

I would like the article to be a little longer, if possible, to include some quotes that are most notably attributed to the rabbi, and also something as to the public reaction to his death, which in 1972, at the end of the war, after so many assassinations and attempted assassination of public figures, whether he was noted then to be a figure of change, because, at that time, I do not recall hearing much about him. Sorry that I was so out of it, then. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sailheaven (talk • contribs) 22:37, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
