About a Girl centres around Amy Ryan, a young college student who moves into a house off-campus with four guys. This house is a mess, and she must learn to deal with this, as well as the antics of her new roommates. It's a good thing that these guys are "hot".
The series will have 13 episodes in its first season.

In episode 1, "About a Pilot", Amy refers to a preppy enemy of hers as a "Laguna Bitch", mocking the fake attitudes and poise of the characters on the MTV show Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. The character, incidentally, he takes offence to the "Laguna" part, not the "bitch" part.
The show takes its name from the Nirvana song of the same name, About a Girl.
