Abir Sabri
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Abir Sabri is an Egyptian belly dancer who starred in Egyptian TV shows and movies. She suddenly started to cover herself up on religious channels due to the Sunni Islam ownership of the networks that promised her work. She is an example of the Saudization of Egyptian culture. While their performing arts used to be liberal, there has been a creation of rules and guidelines that all film makers must follow. In result, Egyptian belly dancers as well as "racy" movies are no longer created in Egypt.[1]
