Abids or Abid Shop is a major commercial center in Hyderabad, India. Abids is well known as the oldest and famous business area of Hyderabad.

The state government building APSFC, and the President plaza are located here.

The area had a shop belonging to Albert Abid, a Jewish valet of Nizam VI of Hyderabad state, hence the area came to be known as Abid shop.

Today the whole area is one of the main shopping area and is known as Abid Road. The General Post Office or GPO headquarters is located in this area.

Major businesses are textiles/clothing malls such as the BrandFactory, hotels, jewellery, and footwear stores such as the Hollywood etc.. BSNL, the largest telecom provider in the city, its headquarters is located here.

The famous Jagdish market known for mobiles and imported electronics is located here. The GHMC office is also located here adjacent to the GPO.

The old Taj Mahal hotel is a major udupi restaurant here set up in early 60s.

Abids is well connected by state run buses.

The closest MMTS Train stationis located a kilomter away at the Nampally railway station.

Autos and taxis shuttle between this suburb to other areas of the city.

It has some of the best and oldest schools in the whole city. Some of them are Stanley Girls, Methodist school, St.George's school, Little flower High school, St. John's Grammar school, Rosary convent, All saint's high school, etc.

Missionaries used to visit this place and have brought with them the English system of education. They have set up schools and have brought early education to the citizens. Their sacrifices have seen the development of the region educationally.

Some of the famous churches are located here especially on the Chapel road like the old and famous churches such as St.George's, Methodist's,some of which are considered to be of heritage sites.
