Abhayanand

Abhayanand is a 1977 batch IPS officer. He is currently serving as Additional Director General of Police in the Bihar Government. Abhayanand did his schooling from St.Xaviers Patna and St. Michael's High School, Patna. He graduated in Physics(hons.) at the top of his class from Science College,Patna. His wife Dr. Nutan Anand is a gynaecologist working in Hajipur.

Anand Kumar started a tutorial to coach bright youngsters for the IIT entrance test. This effort has been recognized globally. The 30 best students of the institute are admitted in a group called Super-30. Those who are lucky enough to be chosen to be admitted in the Super-30 are then tutored free of cost and food, lodging, and learning aids are also provided for free to the students. The number of successful candidates from Super-30 has continued to steadily grow from 18 in 2003 when the Super-30 group was started to 22 in 2004, 26 in 2005, and 28 in 2006. Other coaching institutes in Patna have alleged that many of the students shown successful from Super-30 were actually students of their coaching institutes. [1]
