[edit] Committee areas, ward boundaries and former district boundaries

I am wondering how many councillors represent each committee area, and whether area committees will survive changes to ward boundaries to be made next year, under the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004. Laurel Bush 11:06, 25 October 2006 (UTC).

Also, I am wondering whether and how committee area boundaries might be described in relation to boundaries of districts pre 1996. Is Banff and Buchan really the same area as the pre 1996 district? Laurel Bush 11:16, 26 October 2006 (UTC).

Anyone got a reason for the apparent co-existence of a Banff and Buchan committee area and a separate Buchan committee area? Laurel Bush 11:07, 26 October 2006 (UTC).

Three districts became six committee areas. Perhaps each district was divided between two committee areas and, therefore, the Banff and Buchan committee area is much smaller than the former Banff and Buchan district? The council website seems not to offer any real info on this sort of subject. Laurel Bush 14:49, 26 October 2006 (UTC).

Councillors by area from 2003 and 2007 local elections. Latest moved to 19, multi-seat wards, retaining the same total councillors (68).
