Aberdare was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1918 to 1983. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. Although the constituency name was no longer used after 1983, the constituency underwent only very minor boundary changes losing just 7 voters to the Rhondda seat and gianing under 3,000 from Brecon and Radnor (2095) and Neath (1126) constituencies.
In 1932, the name of the seat was changed to Cynon Valley to reflect the name of the borough established in 1974.
