Abeona

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about the Roman goddess. For the asteroid, see 145 Adeona.

In Roman mythology, Abeona was a goddess who protected children the first time they left their parents' home, safeguarding their first steps alone.

This deity was among the di indigetes ("indigenous gods") of Rome, abstract deities and concepts that predated the many later syncretisms of various cultures' mythologies.
