Try as I might I have not been able to find out when Afeef was born and when he died (the probable year of his death is 1999 according to some Addu friends). All sources I have checked only give the dates of his accession as president and his exile. Mohonu 11:50, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

People say Afeef married only once and stayed always with his wife. But this may be only part of the aura of respect surrounding his image. I think his wife's name is Mariandidi from Hitadū Island. Mohonu 13:11, 5 April 2007 (UTC). The article needs more information about her.

Some people say that: In fact, Mr. Abdullah Afeef Didi never left the Seychelles again. He died there on 13 July 1993. (the date seems a bit back, he probably died later. Others say he did visit the Maldives once. Please contribute with clarifications.

[edit] About the correct use of 'Didi' in Southern Island names

There is an incorrect use of the word 'Didi' (as used in the Southern Atolls of Maldives) in the heading of this article. Afeef was a notable, so Southern Maldivians would respectfully refer to him as only 'e Didi' (without the Afeef) in his absence. However, 'Didi' was only appended to traditional common names from the Arabic, like Hasan, Muhammad, Ahumad, Aysaa, Aaminaa, Faatumaa or to local adjectives like Don, Elha, Tuttu, and so on. Back then Southern islanders would give no other names to their children and would use always the same ones in rotation. But in the 20th century, when new Arabic names like 'Afeef' would begin to be used for children, the 'Didi' would not be appended to those names anymore. So it is incorrect to write 'Didi' after Abdullah Afeef. His local island name would be 'Elha Didige Ali Didige Afeefu' and his more formal one 'Abdullah Afeefu'. So the heading of this article is not accurate. Probably someone from Male' or a non-Maldivian created it.

The name of Afeefu's grandfather was Elha Didi from Hitadu, not Elhe Didi. 'Elha' means 'young' but 'Elhe' means pit or ditch. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mohonu (talk • contribs) 02:03, 5 April 2007 (UTC).
