If the text is to say that his death was in "what was claimed to be" a traffic accident, there should be some citation to a source suggesting it was not a traffic accident. I did some hunting on the web and could find no such source. The obituary cited in the external links section states, "The death, in such circumstances, of a prominent critic of the government is liable to arouse suspicions. A swiftly-issued statement by the official Saba news agency sought to give reassurance. It offered condolences from the Ministry of Information and said that Dr Saqqaf had been run over by a Mercedes, registration number 23059, which was driven by Samer Ahmed Ali, a secondary school student aged 18. The statement added that the youth, a son of Dr Ahmed Al-Seri, a Professor at the Faculty of Arts, had been arrested." That indicates to me that it was merely a traffic accident.

I don't have any personal knowledge about this, and no particular interest in the subject; I just thought the language was overly suggestive. Thunk 18:00, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
