[edit] Summary
Abdülhamid II looks worriedly at Turkey's shrinking European territories, while the Morean peninsula in Greece is depicted as a hand extending towards Crete. The shadow of the twin-headed Russian Eagle is depicted as a twin-headed buzzard, behind Abdülhamid, waiting for the right occasion for claiming its own spoils. The face personifying Turkey (shown over modern Albania, looking south west) resembles the looks of Abdülhamid.
The ultimatum paper at the bottom right, sent by Europe's powers, is titled:
"Note to the Porte: Autonomy for Crete"
