Abdul Latif

Abdul Latif (Bangla: আব্দুল লতিফ) is a famous musician and lyricist of Bangladesh. He is the writer of the famous songs like Ora Amar Mukher Kotha, Ami dam diye kinechi Bangla. He is also the first tuner of the main influential song of the language movement, Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano.[1]

[edit] Early Life and Carrier

After passing the matriculation from Ruphshahya High School, he went to Kolkata for higher education. He started singing for Congress Literature Group from the age of 16. He came to Dhaka on July 1948 and joined the Radio Pakistan the next month as a regular artist.He was regular in different stage shows and sang numerous songs to inspire the language activists. In 1952, he tuned the famous song written by Abdul Gaffar Choudhury Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano. Later the song was tuned by Altaf Mahmud. He wrote, tuned and sung a large number of songs during his carrier. He also worked as a government employee at Information Ministry.[2]
