Honorable Abdul Hameed Dogar (born 22 March 1944) is the Chief Justice of Pakistan, a position he was elevated to when he took oath on the Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO), following the controversial Proclamation of Emergency by President General Pervez Musharaf, on 3 November 2007. In this oath, he swore allegiance to President Musharraf's PCO orders which suspended all human right provisions. The constitution was removed from the oath.
Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar took a fresh oath on 15 December 2007, this time on the constitution . This was done following the end of the PCO and the emergency. At this time, the constitution was restored with unprecedented changes reflecting indemnity of President Musharraf's actions since Nov 3, 2007.

[edit] Birth
Justice Dogar was born in the village of Gaarhi Mori, in Khairpur district, Sindh province. He joined the judicial service on 10 April 1995 with an appointment to the Sindh High Court, and was elevated to the Supreme Court on 28 April 2000.
Justice Dogar was elevated to the position of Chief Justice of Pakistan on 3 November 2007 and he was offered to take an oath on the Provincial Constitution Order (PCO) which replaced the Constitution.
Justice Dogar later took a fresh oath according to article 178 on the Constitution on 15 November 2007, assuming the legal and dejure Chief Justice of Pakistan.
