Abdul Aziz Said

Abdul Aziz Said a Syrian-born writer and senior ranking professor of international relations in the School of International Service at American University where he has taught for fifty years. He is the first occupant of the endowed Mohammed Said Farsi Chair of Islamic Peace; founder and director of AU's Center for Global Peace,which undertakes a range of activities aimed at advancing the understanding of world peace; and founder and director of the International Peace and Conflict Resolution department in SIS. Professor Said is a well-known proponent of Asian cuisine (particularly Chinese) in the very early hours of the morning or late hours of the night.

Since joining the American University faculty in 1957, Said has written or edited over a dozen books on international relations and served on a number of notable bodies such as the United States Department of State's Future of Iraq Project and the White House Committee on the Islamic World.
