Abbotts Ann
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Abbotts Ann is a classic chocolate box village in the English county of Hampshire. It was called Anna in the Domesday Book. It has a village shop/post office run by volunteers which got second prize in the Best Rural Retailer 2007 and most of it's profits goes to the village community. The shop sells all sorts of products, ranging from the latest type of sports drink, to a good old pot of Abbotts Ann Homemade Honey. The village mainly consists of elderly people, although a skate park has been built on the Bulberry Sports field for the growing youth population. There are often events at the village hall, for example Birthday parties or the showing of a recent film. The village on the whole is a wonderful place to live, which has a good location with Salisbury, Basingstoke and Winchester less than 40 minutes drive away. There is also one of the last remaining classic red phoneboxes left in England.
