Previously, Hadiya Zone had seven woredas; namely, Lemo, Shashogo, Misha, Ghibe, Soro, Duna, and Badawacho. In 1997 E.C, however, four additional woredas have newly formed. They are Aan Lemo, Gombora, Misrak Badawacho, and Miirab Badawacho. The former two are separatists from the former mother woredas. That is, Aan Lemo Woreda took some kebeles from Lemo and formed its own woreda administration. Similarly, Gombora Woreda took some kebeles from Soro, Misha and Ghibe Woredas. The formation in Badawacho was differently implemented in that the two new woredas led the former Badawacho divided into two.
