[edit] Plot summary
After the events of The Wizard's Dilemma Nita is depressed. She has also been having some strange dreams concerning a lone character refusing any help. She is also having some trouble understanding his speech.
Meanwhile, Kit is asked by Tom and Carl to help find Darryl McAllister, an autistic boy on his Ordeal - for the past three months. Kit and Ponch travel into the universe inside Darryl's head and get caught up in the battle to the point of not wanting to leave. Darryl has created this universe for the sole purpose of detaining the Lone Power, even if it traps him as well.
Nita, who finds Kit with help from her strange dreams, attempts to defeat the Lone Power with the aid of Kit, Ponch, and Darryl. In the end, they defeat It and lock Darryl's autism away with It.
