Talk:A Talent for War
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is the beginning of what I hope will be a comprehensive article on this novel, which will in turn be linked to the article on Jack McDevitt. I have most of the article written off-line and will add to it over the next week or two. My main challenge, not surprisingly, will be to keep the plot summary within proper bounds.

The character sketch of Christopher Sim is probably too long, but the length is justified given the importance of the character to both the back-story and the story. I may be able to shorten it, depending on what is in the plot summary. I will also rework some of this material to show a more neutral POV.

Query: is the 1989 G.P. Putnam listing shown under "Release Details" correct? I didn't add it and can't find it in the databases I've checked. The inconsistent 31 December 1998 publication date suggests error. Does anyone know? Simmaren 17:17, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Re cover in infobox: I own the original 1989 paperback (somewhere) and will substitute a picture of the 1989 cover when I can find it. It appears to be identical to the 2004 paperback edition cover. Simmaren 17:19, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:A Talent For War1.JPG
Image:A Talent For War1.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
