UChicago Vandalism
Some Chinese exchange students, who have never heard of wikipedia nor let alone the idea of editable content, needed some proof that vandalism is in fact corrected to articles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.135.190.206 (talk • contribs)

Thanks for reporting this user. User does not appear to have performed vandalism recently, so block not added. I have, however, placed a further warning on his talk page. Regards, --Oscarthecat 15:31, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the further information, user has now been blocked. --Oscarthecat 16:37, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Your VandalProof Application
Dear Cynrin,
Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that that you don't have enough edits in the main article namespace. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof. —Xyrael / 17:03, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
Sleeping Dogz
Hey, I've taken a look at the article and have removed the tag, as well as moved the Discography to the end (like in most other band articles). The major issue was simple organisation, and that's been taken care of. Thanks. LordRetard 03:07, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
That article was a mess and had a lot more issues than organization!!! Glad I could clean it up. Cynrin 03:11, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I'm not quite sure what the best action is here. I don't think I would block someone for removing unreferenced tags unless it was a 3 revert rule violation and I don't like the idea of making idle threats. I'd follow the article for a while but I really don't have time right now... -SCEhardT 06:39, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Image:AOI Echota Cropped.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:AOI Echota Cropped.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --– Quadell (talk) (random) 19:14, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
Sorry 'bout that!
... just tryin' to add a little color. : / But fear not - most of my wikipedia time is spent forcing cosmic shifts in the quality of articles, for the better. : P —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.85.178.227 (talk • contribs)

Daredevil vandal
He continued to vandalize at 20:20, 10 January 2007, after you told him to stop. It's at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Daredevil_%28Marvel_Comics%29&diff=next&oldid=99828903. I don't know what to do, so I thought I'd tell you since you were the last one to give him a warning. thanks. --69.22.254.111 20:45, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I, the author of the comments in question, deleted them for the reasons stated, but had neglected to have been signed in at the time. Thank you. Tom Cod 05:27, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
Just a small thing
I noticed you have been patrolling the recent changes, and I'd just like to remind you that when warning those who might be vandalizing, removing text, etc, it is advisable to substitute the templates. In other words, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. Just thought I should let you know. Have a wonderful day and happy editing! Kyra~(talk) 02:38, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Great Job!
Cynrin, I have seen you around during my RC patrolling... and I have a few things to say. 1. You are doing an excellent job! 2. Go apply for VandalProof! again. I am not a VPadmin at all but a quick look at your contribs and count makes me think you'll be approved this time (if you still want to use it) 3. Oh yeah, and finally, this:
The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar | ||
You are awarded this Barnstar for your daily patrol of RC and vandalism reverts. Wikipedia is a better place as a result of your work. KatalavenoTC 02:49, 24 January 2007 (UTC) |
- You're welcome - you do a great job, and I think it would be easier for you with one of the many rollback tools (it is a bit easier for me now, at least). Here is a list of counter-vandalism tools [2]. VandalProof is great and pretty much a perfect tool for RC patrol and reverts/warnings because that is exactly what it was designed to do. The current version 1.31 is good but has some issues with errors that cause it to crash at times. However, my favourite wikitool of all time is Lupin's popups tool. It has a lot of features not the least of which is a revert option. Popups works as an addition to your monobook.js page while VP is a stand alone exe that you download and run alongside your browser. VandalProof looks complicated when you start it up and see it for the first time, however, you can take as long as you want to click on stuff and see how it works (just don't click the Rollback buttons until you are sure!!). There is a manual online for VandalProof and, of course, lots of friendly people who use it who are happy to help you. KatalavenoTC 21:14, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Flying Tiger vandalism
Just spotted the vandal in action and appears to not have a record. Are you going to issue a warning? Cheers, HJ 23:18, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
PS Just saw the warning...never mind! HJ 23:18, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
So, as an editor, I can warn a vandal, but what I not clear on is who can actually place a block or more precisely, who to reach out to when vandalism is in process or it is a repeat offender. Having tripped on it almost every time I am on-line, I usually look to see who the last person was that placed a block on the repeat offender. I found one vandal who has been blocked for better part of a year and then was left alone and the vandalism was escalating unchecked for 2 months even though it was reverted continually. I surmise that Wiki-land is so big that the vandals are like viruses on the loose; some get discovered and yet others flourish. Vexing problem to say the least. HJ 01:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, while I have spent a lot of time revising and editing or otherwise contributing. Now that I have 300+ articles on my watch list, I seem to spend more time undoing vandalism and posting warnings. I moderate several forums and am used to daily housekeeping (mostly to do with spammers). This vandalism of a fine aqnd unique collaborative repository of info is marred but the crude language that most pranksters seem to delight in placing in the midest of an article. I wouldn't want my kids seeing it so that drives me to clean it up. Cheers, HJ 04:12, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Images that I uploaded and didn't use so probably should have asked for deletion myself
