A Random Theory is a five-piece Australian punk/rock/alternative band based out of central coast, New South Wales. The band consists of vocalist Brandon Horn, lead guitarist Alex Johnson, rhythm guitarist Travis Nichol, bassist Josh Paget and drummer James Russell. The band formed in late 2006, originally consisting of Josh, Alex, Travis and James. They played together for a few months and tried a few vocalists but had come up with nothing. In October 2007 after nearly giving up the search James got a phone call it was Brendan and wanted to try out for the band. They met up the next day at the studio, they had found the voice of A Random Theory.

Among the band's most successful singles "Bones" their first song written after forming had a huge success reaching number 72 on the triple j unearthed charts, Plans for a studio album are in the making and expect it will be released early 2008
