Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning is the fourth film in the Anne of Green Gables film series. It is to be released as a television film in 2008 on CTV. CTV has recently acquired the rights to the entire Anne catalogue including the 1985 mini series[1].
The film will star 12-year-old Hannah Endicott-Douglas as the child and Barbara Hershey as the adult Anne Shirley. Shirley MacLaine will play matriarch Amelia Thomas in the film. Kevin Sullivan has written a completely new screenplay for the three hour movie based on the Montgomery's characters(serving as a prequel to his early 3 mini series movies broadcasted originally on cbc)and not directly from her books [2]. The story follows Anne's life before she arrives at Green Gables.
