A Moonclad Reflection is Dark Tranquillity's second demo release after their first demo as Dark Tranquillity, Trail of Life Decayed. It was released by Slaughter Records in the first edition and then by Exumed Records on the second respectively.[1] The songplay on the EP focused on dueling guitar harmonies and complex song structures combined with the aggression of thrash metal, while introducing elements of N.W.O.B.H.M., now known as melodic death metal.[2]

The songs in the demo/EP can also be found in the Tranquillity demo compilation (1993), with Trail of Life Decayed demo. The EP version printed 1500 copies.[3] After twelve years, in their live/compilation album Exposures - In Retrospect and Denial, the band had re-released these two songs re-mastered with Trail of Life Decayed and some old unreleased tracks.[4]
