Talk:A Lazarus Taxon

[edit] Cover image and copyright issues.
Can someone explain why the cover image cannot be included in the article? I found an file for the cover from amazon.com and uploaded it before i saw the hidden text in the album infobox saying not to upload a file. The file can be found at Image:A lazarus taxon.jpg. If there really is no way for this to be included in the article I would appreciate someone deleting it, but otherwise I would like to add it in. Thanks. --Entoaggie09 08:14, 18 June 2007 (UTC)
- I originally uploaded the image when i created the article but it was apparently deleted by request of the artist. Also note: "Tortoise were given permission to use the pictures from Odermatt himself, and from Berlin's Springer & Winckler Galerie, which first unearthed and promoted the artist's work" which, in all honesty, kind of negates our fair use claim. - The pictures in the album cover were used by the band by permission from a third party, and that third party, the copyright holder, contacted the Wikimedia Foundation and asked that the image be removed. Also relevant is the fact that Wikipedia is free content; whereas certain few non-free images may be rather essential to having an historically complete encyclopedia, this is not one of them, and is outside the ambit of Wikipedia's purpose such that no one would foot the legal bill to defend its use. —Centrx→talk • 22:08, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

- So is amazon paying to use it, or how does that work? --Entoaggie09 06:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
