A Huey P. Newton Story is a 2001 film directed by Spike Lee. It is a filmed performance of Roger Guenveur Smith's one-man show of the same name. Smith sits in a chair on a stage and tells about the past, mostly dealing with Huey P. Newton's life and times. The film aired on Starz! and its subsidiaries.

The film was nominated for three awards and won two of them. The film won an award at the Banff Television Festival and a Peabody Award. It was nominated for an Image Award.

In 2005, "A Huey P. Newton Story" arrived on Canadian home video shelves for the first time, following months of discussions and planning between hip-hop activist Raoul S. Juneja (a.k.a. Deejay Ra) and acclaimed Urban Works/Ventura Canada imprint.
