A Great Collection of Fabricated Traditions (Arabic: Al-Mawdu'at al-Kubrah) is a book written by Abul-Faraj Ibn Al-Jawzi. The book consists of narrations declared fabricated by the author arranged by subject. It consists of some 1847 narrations according to the numbering provided in the latest edition. Al-Mawdu'at has been described by Al-Nawawi as having many narrations mentioned in it, occupying approximately two volumes. He then criticized the book as containing many narrations which cannot properly be declared fabricated. Instead, they are as Al-Suyuti says daef, hasan or sahih. Ahmad ibn Alee Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani contends, however, that the majority of the narrations in this book are in fact fabricated and that those narrations criticized as not actually being fabricated are very few in comparison.[1] It is currently published in four volumes with ample footnotes providing additional information.
