A Different Kind of Weather was the third and what would turn out to be, the final album released by the British folk rock band, The Dream Academy. The album saw the return of David Gilmour as the main producer. However, the album only received a lukewarm reception upon its release which greatly disappointed the band especially after they felt that this was one of their best works. Both of the two singles, Love (a John Lennon cover) and Angel of Mercy (called Twelve-eight Angel on the album) failed to enter the charts as did the album. The band did their first and only tour, of smaller cities or "sheds" across the United Kingdom to promote the release of this album in 1991.
