A Cry in the Wild

A Cry in the Wild is a 1990 film based on the book Hatchet, written by Gary Paulsen. The film stars Jared Rushton as Brian. It spawned three sequels: White Wolves: A Cry in the Wild II; White Wolves II: Legend of the Wild; and White Wolves III: Cry of the White Wolf.

13-year-old Brian Robeson is the sole survivor of an unreported plane crash. Alone in the Yukon wilderness, Brian must learn to survive by his wits, find food and shelter, and brave wild, hungry animals until or if he is found.

- Brian fights the Bear numerous times; In the book, the bear only makes a cameo and does not attack.
- Brian eats insects and plants in the film.
- The scenes about Brian's mother's affair are different.
Brian also has a dog in the movie but in the book, they never mentioned a dog.
