A BEST 2 -BLACK- is one of two CDs in the greatest hits anthology A Best 2 by Japanese pop singer-songwriter Ayumi Hamasaki. It was released on February 28, 2007 in Japan along with its counterpart A Best 2 -White-. The album debuted at #1 in Japan on its first day and took #2 in the weekly chart as well as in several countries throughout Asia and #2 on the United World Chart. A BEST 2 -BLACK- was ranked #4 on CDJapan's Top 100 album of 2007.[1]

A Best 2 -Black- is one of two greatest hits albums by Ayumi Hamasaki known collectively as A Best 2. It was released on February 28, 2007 along with its counterpart A Best 2 -White-. Both sets were released in 1CD+2DVD versions with limited version covers for each album's color. Both albums feature songs released between the singles "evolution" and "Bold & Delicious/Pride." No songs off her latest album Secret are featured on either album. A Best 2 -Black- includes "dark" songs with "painful/heartbroken" lyrics while A Best 2 -White- is the opposite, containing "light" songs with "bright/cheerful/upbeat" lyrics. A Best 2 -Black- includes a previously unreleased track, "part of Me" (featured in a new Panasonic CM) and its accompanying music video. Previously released tracks were also remastered. The 1st DVD includes all PVs for the songs off the album while the 2nd DVD includes a documentary which chronicles her concert, "Best of Countdown Live 2006-2007 A".

There is a secret track at the end of the last track, "part of Me". The song is the previously-released "Memorial address", which is from her 2003 mini-album of the same name.
