A Beautiful New World is a 1999 film directed by Shi Runjiu. The film, Shi's first (he had previously served as an assistant director for Lu Yue's Mr. Zhao, was coproduced by the Xi'an Film Studio and the independent Imar Film Company. It is Imar Film's second production (after 1997's Spicy Love Soup).[1]

A Beautiful New World is a comedy that follows a young man from the country, played by Jiang Wu (the younger brother of actor and director Jiang Wen), and his experiences after moving to the Shanghai metropolis. The film additionally stars several Taiwanese pop-stars, notably Richie Ren and Wu Bai in minor roles.
