A.S. Cosenza Calcio was an Italian football club, based in Cosenza, Calabria, who plays in Serie D/I. The team was re-founded in 2003 as A.S. Cosenza Calcio Football Club, after the cancellation of the old Cosenza Calcio 1914. In 2004, however, the Cosenza 1914 was readmitted to Serie D in the same round of AS Cosenza, and the two teams played against each other that season. The two clubs merged a year later.
Cosenza had a glorious past, having played for a long time in Serie B and having launched several famous players. They also won the Anglo-Italian Cup in 1983.
In 2007 AS Cosenza Calcio, under financial problems, did not enter the Serie D, following also the relocation of neighbouring club Rende Calcio in the city of Cosenza, under the new and current name of Fortitudo Cosenza.
