A.F.C. Totton is a football club based in Totton, Hampshire, England. They were established in 1975 and were among the founding members of the Wessex League in 1986. They are currently members of the Southern League Division One South & West. In 2005-06 they narrowly missed out on promotion after finishing 4th [1], while in 2006-07 again they fell just short, losing the title to Gosport Borough on goal difference.

Totton reached the FA Vase final for the first time in the 2006-07 season, where they played Truro City in front of a crowd of 27,754 (a record attendance for the final of the FA Vase). Totton took the lead after 27 minutes but eventually lost 3-1.

[edit] History

Totton Football Club was formed in 1886 and played for many years in such local leagues as the Southampton Senior League, New Forest League and Hampshire League West.

In 1975 the team amalgamated with rivals Totton Athletic and at the same time significantly improved the facilities at their Testwood Lane ground, including installing floodlights. The club joined the Hampshire League at an unknown date in the 1970s and won the Division One title in 1981-82 and 1984-85.

Totton joined the Wessex League when it was formed for the 1986-87 season and finished 3rd at the first attempt, although they were not to match this level of success again until 2001-02.[2]

The club's greatest achievement to date came in the 2006-07 season when they defeated Billingham Synthonia to reach the FA Vase final to be played at Wembley Stadium. The semi-final tie finished level at 2-2 after two legs but Totton were victorious in a penalty shoot-out.
