[edit] Notability

A tag has been placed on A.T. Babbs, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. *Vendetta* (whois talk edits) 01:42, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

This was a copy-and-paste move, which I have fixed. If what the article says is true, then Babbs may indeed be notable, but I'm no expert on Southern Africa. --Stemonitis 07:56, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree with the point that it would require someone with knowledge on Southern Africa to determine the notability of this subject, at least in the article's current state (which has no sources or third-party publications listed). Hopefully someone who does know this information can contribute to the article with a rewrite or citations. I have added the tone template to the page, since I'm still having serious doubts about the tone used in the writing - it seems pretty far from encyclopedic to me. I think it would fall under WP:PEACOCK? Anyway, thank you for fixing the move issue, it is much appreciated. *Vendetta* (whois talk edits) 23:39, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for causing the copy-and-paste move issue. It seemed like a no-brainer to move it as Wikipedia generally does not include prefixes (Mr., Mrs., Ms.) on the names of article subjects (WP:Name) so I acted boldly (WP:Bold) and did it.
The question is now about notability, I would say. Guroadrunner 16:38, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
