Dr. Ayinapalli Aiyappan (5 February 1905, Pavaratty - 28 June 1988, Pavaratty) was an anthropologist from Kerala, India. He was Vice Chancellor of Kerala University and Utkal University. He was keen to see the subject of Anthropology flourishing in colleges across Orissa. He got involved in the planning of the tribal welfare and activated the Tribal Research Bureau, now known as Tribal and Harijan Research and Training Institute (THRTI).
Prof. Aiyappan was involved in the reorganisation of the Orissa Museum as a multipurpose museum with the addition of natural history, mining and geology and anthropology galleries. He had undertaken studies about the history of Ezhavas.
