A-dos-ruivos

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A-dos-ruivos is a village located in the freguesia of Carvalhal, the concelho of Bombarral and the district of Leiria. It has a population of 196 inhabitants.

This Portuguese village was portrayed by the writer Júlio César Machado in his book "Serões na Aldeia", who owned a house there that he spent his free time in. The village has a bust of the writer on display in front of the village's church. Another reason that the village is well known is due to the Távora family having taken refuge there when they were being persecuted by the Marquês de Pombal.
