9M119 Svir

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AT-11 Sniper is the NATO reporting name for the 9M119/9M119M Svir/Refleks laser beam riding guided anti-tank missiles of the former Soviet Union.[clarify] The two missiles are similar, varying only in range and launch platform. Both are designed to be fired from the 125 mm main guns of tanks. The Refleks is fired from the T-90 and some versions of the T-80 and T-84 tanks, while the Svir is fired from the T-72 series of tanks. The Refleks has also been produced by the People's Republic of China for use with the Type 98 tank and Serbia for use with M-2001. It can also be fired from the 2A45 Sprut-B anti-tank gun.

The United States fielded a similar gun-launched system, the MGM-51 Shillelagh from the 1960s to 1980s, used in the M551 light tank.
