9 Channel Nine Court

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

9 Channel Nine Court is the civic address of an office and studio complex in the Agincourt neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, alternatively known as the CTV Toronto Studios or CFTO-TV Studios. It is currently home to the flagship head office of CTVglobemedia (CTVgm), and the offices and main studios of other CTV-owned broadcast properties:

The facility also houses the master control facilities for other CTV stations in Eastern Canada, specifically:

The building's "vanity" civic address refers to the over-the-air channel on which CFTO, the building's original tenant, broadcasts. It is located at the northwest corner of the junction of Highway 401 and McCowan Road. The CTV network began to use the CFTO facilities for news broadcasts beginning in the mid-1960s, but its head offices were located in downtown Toronto until after its acquisition by CFTO's parent, Baton Broadcasting, in 1997. Operations for several other TV channels have been centralized there since then. In the past, a number of dramatic TV series and films, including portions of Network, were filmed at the CFTO facility.

This location should be distinguished from a number of other Toronto-area buildings which house CTV-owned outlets. The former CHUM Television channels now owned by CTVglobemedia are currently based at the CHUM-City Building at Queen and John streets:

Other CTVglobemedia properties are located around the city:

The lottery drawings for Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Super 7 are also held in the building.
